Theme:
"EXPO 2005 AICHI and the Nordic participation"

Guest Speaker:
Mr. Akihiro Sawayama
Senior Regional Director at the Japan Association for the 2005 World Exposition
RECAP
The EXPO 2005 AICHI lasts for 185 days between 25 March and 25 Spetember in 2005. Mr. Sawayama gave a brief overview of the Expo with the help of two videos which gave a good visual image of the impressive Expo sites. As of now, 122 nations and international organizations have signed up, which is above the organizers expectations. Mr. Sawayama, who is responsible for the Europe region has been successful in his work, only the Netherlands and Luxembourg of all the EU countries have not yet confirmed their participation.

Mr. Juha Markkanen, Counsellor at the Embassy of Finland, gave the latest news from Finland regarding the preparations for the joint Nordic pavillion. Although this is a national, even international participation, the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Finland would welcome input from the companies in Japan on their views on how Finland, and its business life, should be promoted at the Expo.

Mr. Kunihiko Fukushima, Senior Project Manager at the Aichi-Nagoya International Business Access Center (I-BAC), pointed out that the services of I-BAC are free of charge.
