Fri. 8 December - Scandinavian Christmas Party

The social highlight of the year of the Nordic Chambers in Japan, the Scandinavian Christmas Party, is this year held on Friday, 8 December, at the same venue as last year, The Westin Tokyo.
The committee has been working hard on a new and exciting program for this year's party. Together with the staff at The Westin Tokyo, the committee is confident that all participating chamber members, and their guests, will experience a party better than ever before!

We open registration for the party on Monday 6 November.

Currently, we are recruiting sponsors for the party. Without the continuous support from a large number of companies and organizations, we could not have made this event as enjoyable as it has been throughout the years.

If you sign-up as a sponsor now (click link below for online sign-up), before we open registration and announce the site to all chamber members, you will get most benefit of your contribution.
News from Finland

Finnair and cabin crew reach settlement, ending strike

Finnair and the Finnish Flight Attendants' Union (SLSY) reached a settlement over their wage dispute late on Friday, ending a strike that had grounded a substantial portion of the Finnish flag carrier's fleet.

The end of the strike was confirmed at about 9.30pm (GMT+3) when both sides approved draft settlement conditions by Juhani Salonius, the state conciliator.

Mr Salonius did not submit a settlement proposal as the dispute involved divergent interpretations of an existing collective labour agreement.

The row began on Tuesday when Finnair announced it was hiring 500 new cabin crew for its Asian routes through Aero, its Estonian short-haul subsidiary, under the national collective labour agreement. The pay stipulated by Finnair's agreement with its existing 1,800 cabin crew is 30 per cent higher than that in the national agreement.

Grin of the week

Find your wife

The man approached the very beautiful woman in the large supermarket and asked, "You know, I've lost my wife here in the supermarket. Can you talk to me for a couple of minutes?"

"But why?"

"Because every time I talk to a a beautiful woman my wife appears out of nowhere."

Hope you have a nice week!
Note that I will be out of office all day tomorrow, so if you write me then, I will reply on Wednesday.

Best regards

Clas G. Bystedt
