  ISSUE 18/2009 19 August, 2009
Dear !*TITLE*! !*LASTNAME*!,

Guess business is more or less back to normal after the summer holiday season. We will have two events towards the end of this month, read more below.

Two events for September have been confirmed. On Thursday 17 September we will have a Luncheon Meeting with Mr. Taro Sakamoto, Country Manager of Brown-Forman Beverages Japan LLC. Mr. Sakamoto will speak about Finlandia Vodka business in Japan. As some of you might know, Brown-Forman acquired the Finlandia Vodka brand almost five years ago. Finlandia has had several distributors in Japan over the year, none of the have really managed to get any significant position on the Japanese market, so it will be interesting to hear what strategies Brown-Forman has to change this.

The other event is a joint event organized by the Swedish Chamber; a Business Luncheon on Wednesday 30 September with Mr. Hiroshi Nakaso of Bank of Japan.
More information about these in my next bulletin!

News from Finland

Passengers flock to ferries between Finland, Estonia

The current economic downturn has not taken a toll on cruises, indicate figures released by ferry companies on Monday. Especially the route between Finland and Estonia has been busy, although currently operated by two companies less than one year ago.

The July passenger traffic between Helsinki and Tallinn of Estonia's Tallink Grupp and Finland's Viking Line were up by 25 per cent and 10 per cent year-on-year, respectively.
Finnish Eckero Line has also experienced an increase of around twenty per cent year-on-year in its Estonian traffic throughout the May-July period.

Grin of the Week

Easy to tell

A woman walked into the kitchen to find her husband stalking around with a fly swatter.

"What are you doing?" She asked.
"Hunting Flies" He responded.

"Oh. Killing any?" She asked.
"Yep, 3 males, 2 females," he replied.

Intrigued, she asked. "How can you tell?"
He responded, "3 were on a beer can, 2 were on the phone."
Best regards
