News from Finland
Finnish government sees EUR 7 bln deficit
Finland's National Coalition party-led rainbow government finished its budget talks on Wednesday in hours instead of the reserved two days, unveiling a 52-billion-euro 2012 draft budget that is broadly in line with the government programme.
As expected the government proposed a number of spending cuts and tax increases.
The government said it expected to run a deficit of about seven billion euros.
The six ruling party leaders had met for preliminary budget talks on Monday.
Grin of the Week
Secrets to a Long Life
An old man was relaxing at his hundredtenth birthday party when a reporter went up to him. "Sir, what is the secret of your long life?"
The man considered this for a moment, then replied, "Every day at 9 PM I have a glass of port. Good for the heart I've heard."
The reporter replied, "That's ALL?"
The man smiled, "That, and canceling my voyage on the Titanic."
Have a great long weekend &|
