News from Finland
Finnish Exports up in August
Finland's balance of trade for August was in equilibrium, as exports rose and imports fell. However, the overall balance of trade for January through August was 1.3 billion euros in deficit.
According to preliminary figures from Finnish Customs, exports were up by 5% over the same month of 2011, while imports were down by 3%.
The data shows the value of both imports and exports was around 4.9 billion euros.
Even with this balance registered in August, the nation's trade deficit for the first eight months of the year stood at 1.3 billion euros.
The recovery in exports was led by higher sales abroad of electrical and electronic equipment and pharmaceuticals. Meanwhile, imports of general machinery and equipment, and forest industry machinery fell.
Grin of the Week
1. If no one sees you eat it, it has no calories
2. If you drink a diet soda with a candy bar, they cancel each other out.
3. When eating with someone else, calories dont count if you both eat the same amount.
4. Foods used for medicinal purpose have no calories.
These include any chocolate used for energy, brandy, cheesecake, and ice cream.
5. Cookie pieces contain no calories, because breakage causes the calories to leak out.
6. If you eat food from someone else's plate, the calories don't count.
7. Movie related snacks are much lower in calories because they are part of the entertainment,
and not ones of personal fuel.
And, my personal favorite; you can eat as much ice cream you like, the energy consumed by the body to warm up the cold ice cream equals the calories in the ice cream...
