  ISSUE 20/2011 9 August 2011
Dear !*TITLE*! !*LASTNAME*!,

The Moomin Charity Event in Sendai on Wednesday, 3 August was a success and I honestly think that we managed at least to some extent (500 kids) to fulfill the objective of our relief project - Bringing Joy to the Children of Tohoku.
Read more about the event in Sendai below.

Our thanks go to all who made this event possible - FCCJ members who supported the charity event at the Embassy in June and all the suppliers of goods and services, many who contributed for free or at least at discounted prices.

We still have some money left in the relief fund so we are now planning for the next step. Keep you informed when it has been decided and might be we ask you for more support...

Report from the Charity Event in Sendai on Wednesday, 3 August
"Bringing Joy to the Children of Tohoku!"

As a first action in the Charity project, an event was organized on Wednesday, 3 August at Nobisuku Sendai with two Moomins from Moominworld.

The Moomins performed at two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. After the performances, 250 gift bags containing Moomin themed presents were distributed to the children. An additional 250 gift bags have been distributed to two other facilities in the Sendai area.

The event was very successful and the children as well as their fathers and mothers showed a great appreciation for both the Moomins and the presents.

News from Finland

Finnish export growth dips in June

Finland's foreign trade slowed abruptly in June, as exports to Finland's most important trading partners Germany and Sweden declined, according to a preliminary data statement on Monday by the Finnish Customs.

Exports rose by only nine per cent year-on-year to some 4.9 billion euros, down from the May growth rate of 17 per cent.

Imports only increased by eight per cent compared to the previous year to some five billion euros, down from May's growth rate of 29 per cent.

Grin of the Week

Half Price - Full Lie

A popular airline recently introduced a special half rate fare for wives who accompanied their husbands on business trips. Expecting great feedback, the company sent out letters to all the wives of businessmen who had used the special rates, asking how they enjoyed their trip.
Letters are still pouring in asking, "What trip?"
Best regards
