  ISSUE 19/2002

7 June, 2002

Dear !*SALUTATION*! !*LAST_NAME*!,

For many of us, much (or at least our scheduling) circulates these days around the World Cup. Both from an organizational and sporting point of view one could say that "so far, so good", although they made a mess of the ticketing system.
However, we might get a test of both tonight with the England-Argentina game in Sapporo.
Let's hope the Sapporo Beer Garden is not in ruins tomorrow morning...
We also have a couple of events related to this subject, read more below.

Report from ACCJ Luncheon with Governor Shintaro Ishihara
FCCJ had the priviledge to be invited to a luncheon meeting with Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) on 6 June 2002.
In his presentation, Governor Ishihara covered Japan's present situation from a number of angles. One clear message he conveyed was that Japan is not aware of its strengths, and do not know how to utilize its resources. 'Japan is like a poker player who does not know what kind of hand he has'.
The luncheon was attended by 400 persons. In addition to FCCJ members (20 attended), also members from the British, German and Australian & New Zealand Chamber were invited to this event.

Grin of the Week
Authentic passenger statement?
This time we have message for our friends in the airline industry... Do you always have such nice customers?
Appologize to sensitive readers (do I have any....?) if this "grin" uses a bit foul language, but I think it is too cute to leave out!

The card to the right is reportedly an authentic message handed to the captain by an eight year old girl on a Quantas flight.

Thanks again to our friend in New York who provides us with the good laughs!

That's all for this week.
Have a nice weekend and safe landings...;-)

Best regards

Clas G. Bystedt
