The ninth annual general assembly handled matters according to our Arcticles of Association. The reports from 2007 and activity plans and budget for 2008 were approved. The membership fees remain unchanged; 150,000 yen for corporate members, 75,000 yen for associate corporate and 20,000 yen for individual members.

Four board members up for re-election (Mika Mäkinen, Veli-Matti Lahti, Seppo Rantanen and Hiroaki Fujita were re-elected for another 2 year term and Masaoki Fujita of Coil Center Fujita was elected as new board member. For a full lits of board members, click here.

One board of trustees member up for re-lection, Kensei Hasegawa, was elected for another 5 year term. Elected auditors for 2008 were Kazuki Yamamoto of Finland Japan Trading and Pertti Mero of Finnair.

The assembly approved a small change in Article 8 of the Arcticles of Association; the President of the chamber has now a one year term (previously two).

After the assembly Ambassador Jorma Julin gave a brief update on current affairs in the relations between Finland and Japan, followed by a dinner with the chamber's Board of Trustees. To enable members to meet as many of the trustees as possible during the dinner, they switched seats twice in a well orchestrated manner.

The event was attended by 45 members.
